VW shop in Glen Ellen (Sonoma), CA

A few weeks back, EP and I drove past this shop in Sonoma Valley, in the town of Glen Ellen. I had never heard of this shop - Glen Ellen Volkswagen - even though it's only about 20 miles from me. EP was very tolerant of my insisting on pulling over and walking through the lot of old beasts...

High and Dry

We moved again. This time the house has a 3-car garage and a carport sorta-thing that Big Blue can fit under! The far left garage will be a workshop and if you look just left of Big Blue, you can see that the entire wall of the shop opens to the carport, making it great for the interior work I have to do on Blue over the holidays.

The best part is both VWs are now out of the rain.

Big Blue finally finds a covered parking spot!

An easy way to sell a bug...

...post pictures of a different car.

This ad popped up on Craigslist this week and I emailed right away. EP was on board. It took me about a day to get in touch and he emailed the photos below back. Totally different car.

Still, for $750, maybe not a bad deal. But the pictures in the ad had me really excited...

Original ad.

Abandoned VW bug near the Redwoods...

EP and I went on an roadtrip north of us for the Thanksgiving holiday. We left Big Blue at home and rented a 30-foot RV as we brought another couple along. I kept my eyes open for any VWs along the way and really only saw a few (I thought I would see many more, as this is hippie country).

The pictures below are of a 68? 69? bug left on the side of the road not far from Avenue of the Giants. It has been there for quite some time, and I'm shocked that it hasn't been towed or impounded, as it seems to be on state (or federal?) land. It's been picked over a little, but I was surprised to see what was still there...
