Hall of Shame: June 1993 Hot VWs

In high school, I remember cleaning my car so well in case some hot girl in a pink bikini happened by. Apparently, all I needed was a not-thinking editor at HOT VWs and a tricked out '67 bug to complete that fantasy.

"I got to give her a ride and, well, after the shoot we hung out. I got her phone number, dude."

The Grateful Dead and poser hippies are way lamer than bay window buses. This Matt Johnson guy needs to get his facts straight.

Hey MJ--

First off, thanks for reading the blog. I know you have made comments on other posts and I appreciate it.

Perhaps I should clarify my post here. I don't know Ryan Reed. I'd like to, because his car looks awesome. And if he is still building VWs, I would love to meet him. I certainly don't "hate" him, as you suggest.

I think that the VW magazine articles from the 80s and 90s sometimes relied too much on chicks in swimsuits when they should have been showing the cars more. I think it's stupid that, rather than making the article about your friend Ryan Reed, they dumbed it down to show the girl. So take my comments as making fun of the photoshoot, not the car or Ryan Reed. I was poking fun at the fact that they brought a girl in a bikini to a photoshoot at a high schooler's house.

Anyway, I was happy to explain that. Not so happy to read the rest of your rant. I'm not sure why you go after Bay Window owners, or gays, or camping tents, or signing my name. I don't know what that has to do with anything I posted about.

I do this blog for fun. Not for business or for some agenda. No need to assume personal things about me without knowing me.

Hey. The purple crew cab above that was mine. I got 4 pages and the cover.
Pretty cool for me being a chick that rebuilt this with my bf at the time.
My 1959 crew cab. My biggest mistake in life was selling it.
Still have VWs but none as good as this was.
