Big Blue Visits: Crater Lake, OR

For those of you who have been, you understand when I say that Crater Lake is awesome. The whole entire visiting experience seems foreign. It's out in the middle of nowhere. You climb slowly up to it. You get close and you are literally climbing up the side of the edge of the crater in your car [VW bus]. Then, you crest a point where you see this massive bowl or water. It's like if there was a cat the size of California, Crater Lake would be its water dish.

Don't forget to look the other way. Awesome views are to be had by looking away from the lake as well. Yeah, that's snow. We started seeing it as we got close to the park and the park itself had snow in all the shade areas. It was cold when we visited in early October, but that made the park rather empty, which was fine with us.

I'm glad that you had a chance to visit Crater Lake. Isn't it awesome? I haven't been there for a few years, but look forward to seeing it again soon. Thanks for all of the pictures. It's such a beautiful park.

It was strange there. This vast thing in the middle of nowhere. It was impressive to say the least...
